The FUJI TEXTILE WEEK 2025 festival will be held in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture, from November 22 to December 14, integrating art installations into the city’s public spaces through partnerships with local businesses. The goal of the organisers is to place art in everyday locations, and to provide an opportunity for residents to encounter art in their daily lives and helping to restore the area’s cultural pride as a “textile town.”
FSX Corporation will host a project at its Expression Kawaguchiko cafe, which opened in July. In collaboration with upsetters architects and the coconogacco fashion school, the cafe and its adjacent forest will become a venue for an art project that is planned to continue beyond the festival period.
In a partnership with Fujisanroku Electric Railway Co., Ltd., Shimoyoshida Station will be decorated with textile installations designed by Tsubamesha Architects. The station is a key gateway for tourists visiting the popular Chureito Pagoda. The decorations on the platform, concourse and entrance aim to create an immediate impression of a “town that has evolved with Mount Fuji and textiles.”
Yamanashi Chuo Bank, Ltd. will also participate, with its Yoshida branch’s large glass facade set to be adorned with an original fabric by renowned textile designer Masaru Suzuki. The project intends to create a work that offers a message of support to the community members who use the bank.
The festival will also showcase new creative talent and industrial collaboration. The fashion school coconogacco will exhibit works by its current and former students, highlighting its ongoing relationship with Fujiyoshida.
Additionally, the KYODO PROJECT, led by DOSO Inc., will present the results of five collaborations between international creators and local textile manufacturers. These partnerships explore new material expressions and aim to create cross-industry value, with projects including the development of new fabrics for furniture in partnership with furniture maker Hida Sangyo Co., Ltd.
