Japanese knitwear brand CFCL Inc. secured B Corp recertification in January 2026 with a score of 143.5 points. As of February 2026, this represents the highest score recorded by any Japanese company under the international certification system.
B Corp is a global certification awarded by the non-profit organisation B Lab. It recognises businesses that balance social and environmental impact with financial profit. To obtain certification, companies must meet standards across five key areas: Environment, Community, Workers, Governance, and Customers. The assessment requires transparency and accountability, with companies undergoing a mandatory recertification process every three years to demonstrate continuous improvement.

The assessment recognised the company’s knit-focused business structure and its use of certified recycled materials, as well as progress in expanding recycled polyester and developing a closed-loop business model, including secondary circulation services. The new score surpasses the 128 points it received at the time of its initial certification in 2022.
