Discovering a Sustainable Future from Japan

Are there any fashion brands that actively “give back”?

Giving back by companies can involve allocating part of their profits to community involvement and environmental efforts. In fact, many conscious companies conduct such initiatives throughout the year. This means that as a customer, with every purchase you make, you can contribute to good causes.

One example of such a company is tentree. It is an environmentally progressive lifestyle apparel brand that plants ten trees for every purchase (as the name suggests). The brand has planted over 50 million trees so far, partnering with charitable organizations around the globe.

As one of their ongoing projects, tentree supports forestation in Madagascar. The coastal Mangrove and in-land trees have been cut down to use as fuel, construction material or for agricultural purposes. This disrupted Madagascar’s natural ecosystem and affected residents’ lives since many depend on farming as a means of labor and food supply. By working with Eden Reforestation Projects, tentree hopes that the nation can restore its self-sufficient community, which was once blessed with a rich ecosystem.
