allbeans Iseshima opens sustainable tiny house retreat in Mie Prefecture

allbeans Co., Ltd. opened a new nature-integrated retreat, allbeans Iseshima, within Ise-Shima National Park last week for all looking for a sustainable stay! Located in Ago Bay, Mie Prefecture, the facility features a “National Park Model” of cabins designed to harmonise with the traditional satoumi landscape, where human industry and coastal nature coexist.

The retreat is situated at the boundary of dense forests and the calm waters of Ago Bay, an area known for its rias coastline and pearl aquaculture. The project adopts a sustainable tourism framework that prioritises environmental protection while allowing visitors to stay in the heart of the national park.

The cabins comply with the Natural Parks Act overseen by the Ministry of the Environment. To minimise environmental impact, the facility utilises solar panels for energy generation and a rainwater filtration system. Furthermore, the installation of waterless compost toilets ensures the effective use of water resources and reduces waste.

The facility also doubles as a disaster resilience hub. While it remains connected to the standard power grid during normal operations, it is equipped to switch to an off-grid system during emergencies. This allows the retreat to maintain essential functions and serve as a temporary shelter if external energy supplies are disrupted.

The architectural design focuses on a minimal footprint using domestic timber for both interior and exterior finishes. Each cabin features a large “picture window” designed to frame the view of local pearl farming rafts and the surrounding sea. Private wood-fired saunas using high-efficiency stoves are also provided in select units to offer a secluded relaxation experience.

“This Satoumi landscape reflects our mission to preserve sustainable local scenery,” said the representative of allbeans Co., Ltd. “I hope this landscape becomes a seed that relaxes the hearts of our visitors.”
