The latest addition to the 9KOS line is a fragrance made using tea leaves from Yame City in Fukuoka Prefecture, a region celebrated for its tea production. Yame boasts the largest area of tea gardens and highest production volume in the prefecture. Situated in the fertile Chikugo area, the area’s climate and terrain have long nurtured high-quality tea. With such abundant resources, 9KOS has created two distinct fragrances, Day and Night, reflecting both the natural environment and daily rhythms of Yame.

The day fragrance, Yame Green Tea, is a warm, green tea-based scent extracted from tea leaves and lemons that would have otherwise gone to waste. Accents of local honey and wisteria further evoke the spirit of the region. The night fragrance, Starry Yame, combines the same upcycled ingredients with musk and lily of the valley to capture the calm of Yame’s starlit skies. Both fragrances aim to deepen awareness of Kyushu’s beauty while promoting resource-conscious production.

Fragrances are created using ingredients that would typically be discarded, such as surplus crops or imperfect produce. Every stage of production is performed by hand, from fragrance blending to packaging, reflecting a traditional Japanese ethic of care and precision often found in Japanese craftsmanship. They also use 100% natural soy wax, making all products entirely plant-derived and biodegradable. 9KOS exemplifies how sustainability and sensory delight can coexist.
