Universal Studios Japan (USJ) and Sumitomo Mitsui Card Co. held a financial literacy workshop for elementary school students on Oct. 14, 2024, with support from Osaka Prefecture. The workshop aimed to equip children with financial skills through a fun and engaging approach, emphasizing the value of money and the significance of work.
This year’s workshop marked its second installment and featured nearly twice the participants compared to the previous year. It introduced a new “Crew Job Experience” component, allowing students to explore various job roles within the park, from working with entertainers to communicating with guests, organizing merchandise, and learning about park security. The event offered 123 children living in Osaka childcare facilities a chance to not only grasp financial concepts but also get a hands-on feel of working life.
In three parts, the program began with a financial education session led by Sumitomo Mitsui Card, involving interactive videos and entertainment to teach the importance of managing money. The second part had children experiencing different park jobs guided by USJ staff volunteers. The final part involved participants using cashless payments at the park’s facilities to understand modern financial tools in action.
USJ aims to empower children with its CSR slogan, “LOVE HAS NO LIMIT,” believing in their unlimited potential and giving children practical opportunities to experience the flow of earning and spending.
